Worldwide Flight Services – Ireland awarded AEO status

Worldwide Flight Services – Ireland (WFSI) is delighted to announce that they have been awarded AEO status by Irish Revenue effective 13th August 2014.

Upon receiving AEO status Gerry Jackson, Managing Director of WFSI stated that “The award of AEO status, which is accepted in 28 EU member states is a significant milestone for us. WFSI is the first and only Cargo Handling Agent in Ireland to achieve this accreditation.”

AEO status implies that apart from being reliable in the traditional financial and customs terms, your organisation is also compliant in respect of security and safety standards and can therefore be considered as a “secure“ trader and thus a reliable trading partner. This status will enable WFSI benefit from a number of customs incentives when sending or receiving goods into or out of the European Union.

Worldwide Flight Services-Ireland prepares for eManifest

Revenue, the Irish government department responsible for Customs, is implementing an e- Manifest system from the 18th October 2014. They will have communicated directly with airlines, handlers, shippers, agents etc. about this over the past 18 months.

The purpose of the e-Manifest system is to ensure that Revenue is made aware of ALL Import and Export shipments arriving into or leaving Ireland by air or sea. This relates to all goods both Community and Non-Community. Revenue needs to be advised of Imports prior to arrival and Exports need to be advised within 24 hours of aircraft or truck departure.

The good news is that for airlines supplying ICS messages for Imports today that system can also be used to satisfy e-Manifest requirements…..however this does not address Exports.

Worldwide Flight Services Ireland (WFSI) is currently engaged with a number IT solution providers one of whom will supply us with a system to enable us to submit e-manifests on our customers’ behalf. The selected solution will obviously be dependent on airlines, agents, handlers, forwarders etc. all inputting accurate data and then this data being sent electronically to WFSI.

WFSI plans to start testing this solution in September to ensure we are ready for the go-live date in October.
